FAQ - Frequenty Asked Questions
What is Nightreign Sidekick and what does it help with?
Nightreign Sidekick is a companion tool for Elden Ring™: Nightreign that helps you understand your current run by revealing boss modifiers, map variations, event locations, and hidden mechanics that are not clearly shown in-game. It is designed to help players make better decisions during a run without relying purely on trial and error.
What are “seeds” in Elden Ring: Nightreign?
A seed is the hidden value that determines how a run is generated, maps in Nightreign are not randomized. The seed influences which bosses appear, which events will happen, and how map elements are arranged.
How does the Run Helper find my seed?
The Run Helper infers your run seed before you land, by asking for nightlord encountered, spawn position, and 3 churches from the map. It can tell you the seed even when the churches are not visible due to the hidden map event, by selecting the spawn mobs instead of the church locations.
Why can’t the tool tell Everdark bosses apart from normal bosses?
Everdark and normal variants of bosses share the same underlying seed data in Nightreign. The distinction between Everdark and normal bosses is applied at runtime by the game and is not directly encoded in the seed itself.
Are Nightreign events in fixed positions on the map?
No. While the overall structure of the map is determined by the seed, many Nightreign events do not have fixed positions. Events are selected from a pool and placed into valid locations dynamically for each run. This means you can predict which events are possible for a seed, but not always their exact positions on the map.
Can the Run Helper show hidden bosses or map elements from the start?
Yes. One of the main goals of the Run Helper is to surface information that is normally hidden until later in a run. Once your seed is identified, the tool can reveal hidden bosses and map variations so you can plan your route more efficiently.
Why do crystal locations and Great Hollow paths change?
The crystals in The Great Hollow appear in 4 different patterns, by identifying some of the unique crystals you can narrow down the pattern to a single one. This way you can tell where the last crystals are located exactly.
Is this tool considered cheating or exploiting?
Knowing the seed is considered cheating, that is why we have implemented a simple and full version of the seed map. That way you can decide how much information you want to see, leaving the possibility open for newer players to have an advantage.
